German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, with Kim Min-jae starting, become the third team in the competition to reach the round of 16
Bayern Munich defeated Galatasaray 2-1 thanks to a Harry Kane goal in the fourth leg of their 2023-23 UEFA Champions League Group A match at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on Monday (Sept. 9).
Bayern Munich, who had won their previous three matches and were top of Group A with nine points, took the three points on the day and booked their place in the round of 16 with 12 points.
This is their third round of 16 appearance, joining Manchester City (England) and Leipzig (Germany) in Group G.
The win also extended Bayern Munich’s UEFA Champions League group stage unbeaten streak to 17 games and their unbeaten record to 38 matches (W35 D3).
Bayern Munich lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Kim Min-Jae remained unchanged in the center of defense, partnered by Dayot Upamecano. Up front, Harry Kane was joined by Kingsley Coman, Jamal Moussaoui, and Leroy Sane, while Leon Goretzka and Yosuha Kimmich formed the second line. Only Goretzka and Konrad Reimer changed from the starting lineup against Dortmund last weekend.
Galatasaray started Mauro Icardi up front with Hakim Jiesi and Wilfred Zaha. In the center backs, Davinson Sanchez was one of many players who have played in the big leagues.
The game didn’t go according to expectations of Bayern Munich’s dominance. Galatasaray fought back.
Bayern Munich had the first chance to score. In the 13th minute, a through ball from Sane found Jamal Mudiayla for a one-on-one opportunity. Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Musrella made the save.
In the 38th minute, the game changed. Muslera was brought down and signaled for a substitution. Bayern Munich quickly brought on Thomas Muller.
In the 42nd minute, Galatasaray had a chance to score. A through ball broke the Bayern Munich defense in one fell swoop. Ziyesi played the ball into the center of the box, where Icardagi was able to connect with a shot that was saved by Manuel Neuer.
Seven minutes into the second half, Bayern Munich missed a crucial scoring opportunity. Sane’s shot from the right flank found Kane charging at the far post. Kane flicked on the ball and connected with his foot, but his shot hit the post.
Undaunted, Galatasaray continued to push forward into Bayern Munich territory and had a chance to take the lead in the 16th minute of the second half. A loose ball from Icardi inside the penalty box found the foot of Lucas Torreira and was headed into the net. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed for offside. It was ruled that Icardi was ahead of the final defender when he caught the ball. Kim Min-jae was the final defender.
Bayern Munich brought on defenders Upamecano and Sane, as well as forward Matthias Tell and midfielder Reimer, in an attempt to score. It was an extreme attacking tactic that left Kim Min-jae as the lone central defender.
Thomas Tuchel’s determination to get a goal soon paid off. In the 35th minute, Kane rattled the Galatasaray net with a header from a free kick in the opponent’s half. The initial call was offside, but VAR ruled it onside and the goal was awarded. 아톰카지노 주소
Shortly afterward, the wedge was broken, and once again, Kane was the man to do it. A miscued clearance by the Galatasaray defense led to Muller, and Kane finished the ball from Tell’s cross.
Despite conceding in stoppage time, Bayern Munich held on to their one-goal lead in the remaining time to seal the one-goal victory.
