Hanwha hangs up the batting gloves and becomes the first team in history to hit a home run… Head Coach Jung Kyung-bae is also involved in the hitting part.

The Hanwha Eagles have appointed Jung Kyung-bae (49) as head coach. Although he is the head coach, he is also an expert in hitting, so he takes care of the hitting part as well.

Hanwha announced the hiring of Jung Kyung-bae as the SSG Landers hitting coach on July 27. In his new role, he will assist head coach Choi Won-ho. Chung spent two years with Choi Won-ho at Hanwha in 2020 and 2021. He served as acting first-team manager and hitting coach in 2020 and as manager and hitting coach of the Futures in 2021.

Hanwha said, “Coach Jung has the advantage of knowing the players as he joined the organization in 2020 as the hitting coach of the Hanwha Futures and coached the young players who are currently playing,” adding, “He will be involved in the hitting department as the head coach next season and will focus on improving the skills of the fielders.

“I am returning to Hanwha with a heavy responsibility to work well with Coach Choi Won-ho to achieve results,” said Chung.

“I know that I have to be involved in the batting part to some extent and try to help the team develop,” said Chung. “For the players whose skills have improved to a certain extent, I will focus on mental management rather than the technical part, and for the younger players, I will train them to complement their skills so that they can maximize their abilities.”메이저사이트

“Above all, the head coach is an important position for communication between the head coach and the coaching staff and between the coaching staff and the players, so we will try to play a good role in the middle so that they can communicate comfortably,” said Chung.

A former right-handed infielder at Incheon High and Hongik University, Chung joined Samsung in 1996 before moving to SK in 2002, where he played until 2009. He played 1322 games in 14 seasons, batting .266 with 1062 hits, 100 home runs, 522 RBIs and 70 stolen bases. In particular, he holds the KBO’s only true record for hitting a bases-loaded home run against LG in Daegu on May 4, 1997, while playing for Samsung.

Following his retirement, Chung began coaching in 2010 and served as the hitting coach and fielding coach for SK. His leadership as hitting coach was recognized in 2017 and 2018 when he led SK to the team home run title for the second straight year. SK’s 234 team home runs in 2017 remains the most in a single season in KBO history. In 2018, he helped SK win the Korean Series upset.

He then spent two years with Dusan in 2019 and Hanwha in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, he returned to SSG as the first-team hitting coach and helped them win the wire-to-wire title. This year, after serving as the first team quality control coach and hitting coach, she was asked by Choi Won-ho to join Hanwha as the head coach.

Hanwha has been piecing together a new coaching staff, having hired Kim Jae-gul as first-team operations and infield (third base) coach and Park Jae-sang as first-team outfield defense and infield (first base) coach on the 21st, followed by Jung Kyung-bae as head coach.

Doosan Futures infield coach Kim Woo-seok, who has improved LG’s infield defense, will join the team soon, and the team is also looking to add a hitting coach. With the addition of experienced veteran coaches, the focus is on strengthening the details.
